Republican lawmaker publicly criticizes Matt Gaetz, calling him a fraud.
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) is attempting to remove House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) from his position of leadership due to his agreement with Democrats to avoid a government shutdown. Gaetz alleges that McCarthy made a covert agreement with President Joe Biden regarding assistance for Ukraine.
However, there is at least one individual from his own conference who disagrees.
“I cannot reword”
Lawler maintained that Republicans, led by McCarthy, are making efforts to draft a bill aimed at reducing expenses and promoting conservative agendas. However, Gaetz’s involvement could potentially jeopardize this endeavor.
“We are actively engaged in the task,” he stated. “This will significantly divert our attention from it.”
Lawler mentioned that Gaetz’s behavior is becoming tiresome for other members of the GOP conference.
Lawler stated that Matt has been an extremely destructive presence in the conference, and it is important for the American people to recognize that his actions do not align with conservative values or conservative Republicanism. Lawler further described him as a fraud.
If Gaetz is found guilty, he may face expulsion from Congress as some Republican conference members are allegedly considering this option. The Ethics Committee is currently investigating him.
