For 18 months, residents of Sudan’s city of Al-Obeid have endured siege-like conditions, facing severe shortages of food, clean water and medical supplies while coming under drone and artillery attacks. The UN has also documented executions, abductions, torture and sexual violence in the surrounding region. With the Rapid Support Forces reportedly tightening their grip around the city, the UN is now warning that another humanitarian catastrophe could be unfolding.
