James Van Der Beek found his peace under a lone star. Almost six years before the ‘Dawson’s Creek’ alum’s death at the age of 48 after a battle with colorectal cancer, he and wife Kimberly Van Der Beek made the decision to move their family from Los Angeles to a 36-acre property in Austin, Texas. "I was on the West Coast, but it feels like home here," James told E! News in 2022. "I really feel grounded. I love being so connected to the weather and the seasons. And I can see it for the kids as well."
