Iran has accused the US of violating the ongoing ceasefire after American forces carried out air strikes on Iranian vessels and missile launchers. Yet Tehran remains optimistic about talks to finalize an agreement with the US to extend the ceasefire and potentially reopen the Strait of Hormuz. But what is the feeling in the US? Has the war damaged Trump and could Iran secure a deal it can sell as a win? We spoke to DW’s Washington Bureau Chief Ines Pohl and Professor Thomas Juneau, an expert in Middle East security and intelligence at the University of Ottawa’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs in Canada.
