Mel C is looking back on the moment she thought her Spice Girls career could be over. During an appearance on The Louis Theroux Podcast, the singer revealed that after the 1996 BRIT Awards she told bandmate Victoria Beckham to "f–k off" as the group was leaving the event. The comment didn’t go over well. Mel C said she woke up the next morning to learn she was in serious trouble, with Mel B and Geri Halliwell telling her they were "disgusted" by her behavior. She was also warned by the group’s manager that if anything similar happened again, she would be out of the Spice Girls. The experience, she admitted, left her terrified—but she remained in the group as the Spice Girls went on to become one of the best-selling girl groups in history.
