UN envoy to Syria requires sanctions reduction to assist rebuild the nation | DW News

The United Nations special envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, arrived in the capital Damascus, one week after rebel groups put an end to over five decades of rule under the Assad family. Pedersen is in the Syrian capital to meet officials from the new interim government. He called for a rapid end to Western sanctions, so that the country could be rebuilt.
