UK parliament debates invoice that may permit assisted suicide for terminally ailing folks | DW News

As the debate is getting underway demonstrators opposing the idea of assisted dying have gathered outside the parliament in London. Observers are expecting protests in support of the contentious bill, too. The subject has split the UK’s society for years, recent polls show a majority of Britons backing the proposed law.

The suggested bill would allow adults who are terminally ill to be assisted to end their own life. A change in the law has been long fought for by advocates. DW’s Birgit Maass met with some of them.
