Donald Trump suggests sending more U.S. troops to Greenland as he seeks annexation

Donald Trump has been slammed by Greenland’s Prime Minister Mute Egede over his “highly aggressive” move to deploy a delegation of senior officials to the territory this week.

Tensions between Greenland and the U.S. are continuing to run high over the American’s repeated threats to annex the Danish territory.

Relations worsened over the weekend after it was reported that Trump’s National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and Energy Secretary Chris Wright will be jetting in this week, followed by Second Lady Usha Vance.

Egede was quoted in a Greenlandic newspaper Sunday questioning why Waltz in particular was visiting.

“We are now at a level where it can in no way be characterized as a harmless visit from a politician’s wife,” Egede said, according to Greenland’s Sermitsiaq newspaper.

“What is the national security adviser doing in Greenland? The only purpose is to demonstrate power over us.

“He is Trump’s confidential and closest advisor, and his presence in Greenland alone will certainly make the Americans believe in Trump’s mission, and the pressure will increase after the visit.”

Vance’s visit was announced by the White House Sunday, which said she would be accompanied by a United States delegation.

Judge blocks DOGE from accessing personal information held by Department of Education and Treasury

U.S. District Judge Deborah L Boardman has issued a preliminary injunction to stop Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) from accessing large swathes of personal data from those agencies, finding doing so to be in violation of the Privacy Act.

She concludes her ruling: “Enacted 50 years ago, the Privacy Act protects from unauthorized disclosure the massive amounts of personal information that the federal government collects from large swaths of the public.

“Congress’s concern back then was that ‘every detail of our personal lives can be assembled instantly for use by a single bureaucrat or institution’ and that ‘a bureaucrat in Washington or Chicago or Los Angeles can use his organization’s computer facilities to assemble a complete dossier of all known information about an individual.’

“Those concerns are just as salient today. No matter how important or urgent the President’s DOGE agenda may be, federal agencies must execute it in accordance with the law. That likely did not happen in this case. The plaintiffs’ motion for a preliminary injunction is granted. A separate order follows.”

Rosie O’Donnell says Trump’s win should be ‘investigated’ as ‘one of his best friends runs the internet’

The 63-year-old comedian, who recently left the U.S. and moved to Ireland in response to Trump’s return to the White House, has said there should be an investigation after she questioned how the Republican comfortably won every swing state in the 2024 election, claiming that one of his “best friends owns and runs the internet” in reference to Elon Musk.

O’Donnell, who has a long-running feud with Trump, raised her suspicions about the president’s resounding victory in November during an appearance on RTE’s The Late Late Show with Patrick Kielty.

McMahon pressed on how Trump will dismantle Department of Education

Trump’s Education Secretary Linda McMahon defended the dismantling of the Department of Education yesterday but pledged to work with others to reshape federal oversight of education.

“President Trump has said he will move things in accordance with the law and in cooperation with Congress,” the secretary told CNN’s Dana Bash on State of the Union.

“We will work with Congress, we will partner with Congress,” said the secretary. “We will find out where the law’s…”

Bash then interjected, noting that the Trump administration would have to “change the law” to reorganize or end programs overseen by the Department of Education.

“Not necessarily,” responded McMahon.

“We are going to look to see how we are governed [as an agency]. If we need to change the law, if we have to work with Congress, if Congress doesn’t agree, we’ll find out. We’ll find out.”
