Donald Trump said the bigger problem for the US than foreign influence or migrants is “the enemy from within” whom he characterized as “sick people, radical left lunatics”, a term he often applies to Democratic opponents.
The former president told Maria Bartiromo on Fox News‘ Sunday Morning Futures that they — US citizens — “should be easily handled by, if necessary, by National Guard, or if really necessary, by the military”.
On Saturday evening, Trump held a rally at Coachella in the Democrat-heavy state of California at which a heckler was removed before the former president then continued to go on his well-worn rant about immigration.
The California rally came hours after Kamala Harris released her medical information in a challenge to Trump, whose health and age are coming under increased scrutiny, particularly in light of recent long, rambling, and at times incoherent speeches, which the vice president invited people to watch to make up their own minds about the mental state of the former president.
Harris is on the campaign trail in the key battleground of North Carolina where she attended a church service and will hold a rally in Greenville.
New national polls show either a deadlocked race or a tightening of the Democrat’s narrow lead.
Clinton says Trump demands of ‘total loyalty’ inconsistent with scripture
Bill Clinton, speaking at a Black church in Georgia says of Donald Trump that he is “telling you that ‘the only thing that matters to me is absolute, total loyalty. What if I say 2 +2=6?” …We have to ask ourselves — Is that consistent with the scripture that most Americans say they try to follow?”
Trump national security advisor says his ‘gates of hell’ will be ‘unleashed’ if they win
Michael Flynn, the Trump administration’s National Security Advisor, told a crowd of people to focus on winning the 2024 election before thinking about holding people ‘accountable’ – a reference to prosecuting current officials.
An audience member at the Rod of Iron Freedom Festival in Pennsylvania asked Flynn if he would head “a military tribunal to not only drain the swamp, but imprison the swamp, and on a few occasions, execute the swamp.”
The question seemed to be an allusion to Trump promising to go after current government officials, judges and more who have disputed him or pursued legal action against him.
Flynn essentially said he would so long as Republicans win in November.
“We have to win. These people are already up to no good. So we gotta win first. We win, and then Katie, Bar The Door. Believe me, the gates of hell, my hell will be unleashed.”
Hours after Fox News airs interview with him, Trump bashes network
Despite airing a full sit-down interview with him on Sunday Morning Futures, in peak political TV time, Donald Trump has lashed out at Fox News for spending “so much time interviewing the other side” with “little or no competent pushback”.
FoxNews spends so much time interviewing the other side that we must win, DESPITE them. So crazy! People like Fowler, Wolf, Murphy, Tarloff(?), and others, with little or no competent pushback. They want to be ”Fair and Balanced,” just like CNN & MSDNC! Conservatives want a real voice. The two “new readers,” A.N. & E.S., on NOW, are TERRIBLE!

Trump threatens to withhold firefighting funds from California
After spending days spreading misinformation about FEMA not helping victims of Hurricane Helene, Donald Trump told rallygoers in California that if elected, he would withhold federal fire-fighting aid to the state in order to get Governor Gavin Newsom to do what he says.
Trumpeting the potential power he would have if re-elected, Trump promised supporters he would make sure Newsom cannot enact environmental protection policies that limit the amount of water Californians can use.

Trump says national abortion ban ‘off the table’ and claims issue has been ‘diffused’
During his appearance on Fox News this morning, Donald Trump said that a national abortion ban is “off the table” but then confusingly added, “We’ll see what happens”.
“Let me just tell you, I think that it’s something that’s off the table now because I did something that everybody has wanted to do, I was able to get it back to the states,” the former president told Maria Bartiromo on Sunday Morning Futures.
Trump went on to claim that the overturning of Roe v Wade by the Supreme Court was something “every Democrat and Republican wanted”.
“Everybody wanted it, and I did it,” he said. “Now, we’ll see what happens. I will say this, that issue has been, in my opinion, largely defused.”
In addition to leaving abortion up to the states, Trump has said he would veto a federal ban an believes it is very important to have exceptions for the life of the mother and in cases of rape and incest.
A number of states have instituted strict bans with few exceptions, endangering the health of many women.
In today’s NBC News national poll, when respondents were asked whether there was one issue so important that they would vote for or against a candidate solely on that basis, the top response was abortion with 22 per cent, ahead of immigration, protecting democracy, and the cost of living.
Report: Trump made shocking slur about Harris during angry rant to donors
The New York Times cites several sources at the dinner as saying that he called her “retarded”. Another new low has been reached.
Here’s John Bowden’s full report:
SNL mocks Melania Trump’s absence from campaign trail
In a spoof of Family Feud, host Steve Harvey (Kenan Thompson), introduced ‘Team Harris’ led by Vice President Kamala Harris (Maya Rudolph), including an excited Doug Emoff (Andy Samberg), a goofy Governor Tim Walz (Jim Gaffigan) and a confused President Joe Biden (Dana Carvey).
But ‘Team Trump’ seemed to be down a player, as Ariana Baio reports.
