The hosts of The View are criticizing people who have celebrated the death of Lindsey Graham.
Graham died of a “brief and sudden illness” Saturday at age 71. His death has sparked divided reactions as the Republican senator leaves behind a controversial legacy due to his support of the Iran war, along with his shifting alliance with President Donald Trump.
“I saw a lot of posts online celebrating his death,” The View co-host Ana Navarro said during Monday’s episode. “I know Trump does that,” she said, referring to Trump’s polarizing comments after the death of director Rob Reiner as well as the death of former FBI director Robert Mueller.
“But it’s inhumane and lacking empathy,” Navarro continued. “The dead person is dead and can’t hear you, but his family can.”
She added: “For the benefit of having normal decency towards the family, that has to stop.”
Sara Haines agreed, adding, “It disturbs me that I saw people online saying not to humanize him. He was a human.”
“Whether I disagreed with him completely or not, he’s gone,” Haines said.
