A Titanic survivor’s grandson revealed that Kate Winslet’s famous door scene in the James Cameron film was based on how his grandfather survived the 1912 tragedy. In an interview with CBS News, Steven Fong, grandson of Fang Lang, shared that his late grandfather actually used a door as a floating device after the shipwreck. “With my grandfather’s story, he actually went down with the ship, and to everyone’s amazement, he found his way onto a door," Steven explained.
