As the search for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie continues, Savannah Guthrie reacted to theories that a family member had abducted her mother. "It’s unbearable and it piles pain upon pain," she told Hoda Kotb on the March 26 episode of Today. "There are no words. I don’t understand, I’ll never understand. No one took better care of my mom than my sister and brother-in-law. No one protected my mom more than my brother." Savannah noted, however, that it was the doorbell camera footage—which showed what the FBI described as a man wearing a black backpack in front of Nancy’s home—that helped absolve her loved ones in the public eye. "I’m glad and grateful to the investigators and the technology companies that were able to find that video," she added, "to, I hope—at least with people of good heart and compassion—stop the irresponsible and cruel speculation that had started to swirl."
