Oleksandra Matviichuk on how we proceed to combat for human rights

We can’t attain our human rights, our democracy, once and forever. We make our own choice everyday“. These are the words of Oleksandra Matviichuk, founder and head of the Nobel Peace Prize-winning Center for Civil Liberties, and laureate of the Sakharov Prize and European Order of Merit.

Through her work, Matviichuk fights to protect human rights and build a lasting democracy in Ukraine.

She reminds us that freedom is under threat across the world. In many countries, people are fighting for freedom, justice, and human dignity. We must support them, she argues, because their struggle is our struggle, and only by defending and spreading freedom can we make the world safer for everyone.
