The 2026 Winter Olympics are underway in Italy, bringing together nearly 3,000 athletes from around the world. A record 14 African athletes from 8 countries are competing, with Benin and Guinea-Bissau making their debut. That’s more than double the continent’s representation at the last competition. But Africa has never won a medal for the winter games. We hear from the athletes on what’s holding them back and what could change that.
