MEPs debate the European Central Bank’s annual report with ECB President Christine Lagarde

The discussion focuses on the ECB’s recent actions and the priorities it should set for the year ahead. MEPs are expected to call for a gradual rollback of emergency measures and to raise concerns that the ECB’s short-term lending schemes have taken the place of private interbank funding.

The debate is also likely to address the future of the digital euro, with MEPs underlining that cash must continue to play a central role alongside digital forms of money.

The vote on the report is planned for the 10 of February.
