Ukraine says more than 20,000 children have been taken to Russia since the start of Moscow’s full-scale invasion. Bringing them home has become one of Kyiv’s most urgent humanitarian priorities. In this interview to DW’s Misha Komadovsky, Maksym Maksymov, Head of Bring Kids Back UA initiative, discusses how these children are being returned, the challenges involved, and why the issue has drawn rare bipartisan support in Washington. He also explains the role U.S. First Lady Melania Trump has played in efforts that Ukraine says have helped secure the return of dozens of children.
