The worst-ever wildfires to hit the Los Angeles area are continuing to burn in the US state of California.
DW spoke to one Santa Monica resident, Tana Waldren, who says she’s been trapped in her home by the fires. Waldren, who suffers from pre-existing health conditions, said that the air was so thick with smoke that breathing was difficult at times.
Democratic California State Senator Ben Allen joined DW to discuss the fires as well. He described the devastation in the western Palisades area as being akin to a bomb going off.
