Kacey Musgraves and Miranda Lambert’s relationship has been mended. The “Golden Hour” singer shared insight into their dynamic after Miranda recorded the 2011 song “Mama’s Broken Heart,” a track Kacey cowrote, but says was pitched to Miranda “without my consent or knowledge.” Despite having “lost touch for years” and acknowledging that the two women “wouldn’t consider each other friends” during that time, the eight-time Grammy winner was inspired to put their differences aside for her upcoming album ‘Middle of Nowhere,’ which features a duet with Miranda called “Horses and Divorces.” As Kacey—who finalized her divorce from Ruston Kelly in 2020—explained, “I saw her on Instagram one day, riding one of her horses, and I was like, ‘Well, we ain’t friends, but I guess we have two things in common, horses and divorces, that’s for sure. Wait, that could be a really funny song. What if it’s a duet with her? What if I got her to write on it?’” After Miranda—who was married to Blake Shelton from 2011 to 2015—agreed, the pair shared a “very full circle” moment. Kacey explained, “We aired out any of the old laundry. We had some laughs and wrote the song in a matter of a few hours.” E!
