The data says we’re not yet in recession but the vibes are off and big financial institutions are starting to signal risk. Often the data lags the reality. Europe remains uniquely vulnerable in this kind of situation because of the factors building up this perfect storm. For one, European economies are more exposed to energy price volatility than the US and China. Meanwhile, European governments have been trying to stave off inflation and slow growth, but stagflation looms. Will this summer kick start economies across the world, or just prove how brittle the whole system has become.
