The US has reportedly redeployed parts of South Korea’s air defense systems to the Middle East. The transferred units include THAAD batteries — short for Terminal High Altitude Area Defense — equipped with advanced radar, interceptor missiles, launchers, and trained personnel. Originally stationed in the county of Seongju to deter North Korean threats, the move of some of these assets now appears to reflect a broader shift in US strategic priorities.
