Michael Steele, former chair of the Republican National Committee, mocked President-elect Donald Trump for saying he’ll create a new department to eliminate government bureaucracy to be co-chaired by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy.
“This whole ‘we’re gonna create an agency to get rid of agencies’ is just BS,” Steele said on MSNBC on Sunday. “I mean it’s just crazy.”
Trump said the agency “will become, potentially, ‘The Manhattan Project’ of our time.”
But Steele clearly isn’t buying it.
“You’re creating an agency to get rid of agencies,” he reiterated. “How dumb is that?”
He and his fellow “The Weekend” hosts Symone Sanders-Townsend and Alicia Menendez mocked the idea of an agency supposedly aimed at creating more efficiency having two people in charge of it.
“All of this is smoke and mirrors crap,” Steele said.
He also wondered what happened to Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, as Musk has become a constant presence at Trump’s side since the election.

“Where’s JD Vance?” he asked. “My feeling is Elon Musk is the surrogate VP.”
