Actress Eva Longoria says she is through with the “dystopian” U.S. and plans to split her time between Spain and Mexico.
In an interview with Marie Claire, the former “Desperate Housewives” star said she couldn’t fathom the victory of President-elect Donald Trump.
“The shocking part is not that he won,” she said. “It’s that a convicted criminal who spews so much hate could hold the highest office.”
“If he keeps his promises, it’s going to be a scary place,” she added.
Ms. Longoria acknowledged that fleeing the U.S. is easy for her, having multiple homes in foreign countries.
“I’m privileged,” she said. “I get to escape and go somewhere. Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.”

Ms. Longoria appeared at multiple campaign events and spoke at the Chicago convention that nominated Vice President Kamala Harris.
But in another part of the Marie Claire interview, she acknowledged that the U.S. dystopia isn’t all about Mr. Trump, but also Democrat-dominated California with the taxes and homelessness.
“But even before [the pandemic], it was changing. The vibe was different. And then COVID happened, and it pushed it over the edge.
Whether it’s the homelessness or the taxes, not that I want to s*** on California — it just feels like this chapter in my life is done now,” she said.
