Erez border crossing opens, permitting extra humanitarian support in | DW News

Israel has reopened the Erez border crossing to permit extra humanitarian support to enter via northern Gaza.

The first cargo of support to make use of the Erez crossing arrived from Jordan. Israel opened the Rafah border crossing with Egypt in November, and the Kerem Shalom crossing on the border with Israel in December. The US and different nations have been air-dropping support and the US is constructing a floating support pier off Gaza’s Mediterranean coast that may permit ships to ship support instantly.

Aid businesses have been calling for its re-opening for months, to permit the availability of desperately wanted meals and medication to hundreds-of-thousands of civilians liable to famine. The re-opening additionally follows US calls for that Israel do extra to deal with Gaza’s humanitarian disaster.
