Manchester City defender Nico O’Reilly has received his first call-up to the senior England side after replacing Reece James.
James picked up an injury during Chelsea’s 2-1 win against Liverpool on Saturday and has been ruled out of the games against Wales and Latvia following medical assessments.
James’ injury is not serious, however, and he has withdrawn from the England squad as a precaution.
His replacement, O’Reilly, was initially called up to the U21 squad but will now join Thomas Tuchel’s set-up in the international break.
The 20-year-old has made nine appearances for City across all competitions so far this season, recording one assist.
