Crowds gathered outside the US Embassy in Havana on Friday, May 22, after US authorities announced charges against former Cuban president Raul Castro tied to the 1996 downing of two civilian planes.
The charges against Castro and five other people include conspiring to kill US citizens, destruction of aircraft and murder, according to the indictment.
The move against Castro is seen as an attempt by the Trump administration to force change on the island, and may fuel speculation that the US is preparing to launch military action against Cuba.
