Critics declare the US Supreme Court is dominated by ideology | DW News

US President Donald Trump says he has been granted “the greatest increase in presidential power in the last 100 years”. The Supreme Court gave him sweeping authority to fire the heads of independent government agencies on Monday. However the court upheld the concept of birthright citizenship on Tuesday, rejecting Trump’s executive order declaring that children born to parents who are in the United States illegally or temporarily are not American citizens.

DW’s Ben Fajzullin talks to Gloria Browne-Marshall – a professor of constitutional law at John Jay College of Criminal Justice – about how the court’s decisions are potentially shaping the country for many years to come.
