Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced that he will resign as Liberal Party leader, bowing to growing pressure from within his own party. Mr Trudeau said party in-fighting meant it was clear he wasn’t the best choice to lead them into general elections this year.

Correction: Canada’s parliament will be suspended until March 24 this year, not March 26, as our correspondent said in this interview.
